Turbo Oil & Coolant Line Guide
The Citroën 1.6THP EP6 turbo engine uses several oil and coolant lines around the turbocharger. These lines sit in a high-heat area near the exhaust manifold and turbine housing, so the factory rigid pipes, rubber hose sections, crimp joints and sealing points can become difficult to reseal as the vehicle ages.
This guide explains the main turbo oil feed, oil drain, coolant line and fitting kits available for Citroën C4, C5, DS3, DS4 and DS5 1.6THP EP6 applications, and how to choose the correct kit for your repair or upgrade.
Which Turbo Line Kit Do You Need?
Which Turbo Line Kit Do You Need?
The correct kit depends on which part of the turbo oil or coolant system you are replacing. Some customers only need a single oil feed line, while others prefer a full kit when removing, replacing, or servicing the turbocharger.
Complete Turbo Oil & Water Line Kit
The complete oil & water line kit is the full turbo line refresh. It includes the turbo oil feed line, oil drain hose, turbo water lines and required fittings/hardware. This is the most complete option when the turbocharger is removed or when the vehicle has multiple age-related oil and coolant line issues.
Oil Feed & Drain Line Kit
The oil feed & drain line kit replaces both sides of the turbo oil circuit. This is the better choice when the turbocharger is already being removed, or when both the high-pressure feed side and gravity-return drain side show age-related leakage or rotation-related leakage.
Turbo Oil Feed Line Kit
The turbo oil feed line supplies pressurized engine oil to the turbocharger. The factory oil feed pipe can develop rotation-related leaks after it has been loosened, removed or slightly repositioned during turbo service. Because the original line is rigid, even a small change in angle can affect how the sealing surfaces sit at the engine block or turbocharger connection. GryphonTek oil feed kits replace the factory rigid pipe with a -4AN PTFE braided stainless line and the required banjo hardware. The turbo-side banjo bolt includes a 1.8mm restrictor, designed for K03/K04 turbo oil feed control.
Turbo Oil Drain Line Kit
The turbo oil drain line returns oil from the turbocharger back to the engine. The factory oil drain pipe can also suffer from rotation-related leaks. Since the drain side depends on correct pipe angle, sealing position and free oil return, an old drain pipe may leak after it has been rotated, removed or forced back into position during turbo replacement. Unlike the pressurized feed side, the drain side depends on unrestricted gravity return. Old rubber sections and crimped joints can harden, seep or become difficult to reseal after removal. GryphonTek oil drain kits use a high-temperature hose section, billet aluminum fitting, Viton O-ring and heat protection sleeve.
Turbo Water Line Kit
The turbo water line kit replaces the coolant lines connected to the turbocharger. These lines help move coolant through the turbocharger housing. On older EP6 applications, factory water pipes and sealing points can become difficult to reseal, especially after turbo, exhaust manifold or cylinder head service. GryphonTek water line kits use -6AN PTFE braided water lines with the required banjo bolts, washers and adapters.
Engine Block Oil Feed Fitting Kit
The engine block oil feed fitting is used when converting the engine-side oil feed connection to a -4AN braided line setup. This fitting provides the connection point from the engine block oil gallery to the braided oil feed line. It is intended for braided oil feed line setups, not as a universal replacement for every factory pipe configuration.
Turbo Oil Feed Inlet Fitting Restrictor
The turbo oil feed inlet fitting connects the braided oil feed line to the turbocharger side. This fitting includes a 1.8mm restrictor for K03/K04 turbo oil feed control. It is designed for -4AN PTFE braided oil feed line setups.
Why These Lines Are Commonly Replaced
Why These Lines Are Commonly Replaced
On the Citroën 1.6THP EP6 turbo engine, the factory turbo oil feed pipe and oil drain pipe are rigid metal lines with sealing points that depend heavily on correct angle, alignment and clamp position.
A common issue is rotation-related leakage. Once the original oil feed or oil drain line has been loosened, removed, rotated or slightly repositioned during turbo service, the sealing surface may no longer sit in the same position. This can cause oil seepage even when the original line is reinstalled with new washers, seals or O-rings.
This problem is more noticeable on older vehicles because repeated heat cycles can harden the rubber sections, weaken crimped joints and make the rigid pipe harder to reseal after movement.
Common service symptoms include:
A flexible braided line setup helps reduce stress caused by rigid pipe alignment. It also makes future turbo service easier because the line can be positioned without forcing the sealing points into a fixed factory angle.
